UCD UX UI CX

Versatile digital product designer with a lifelong passion for technology, from the inside out. 1st class degree in Information Design. Coder. Startup founder. User-centric, business driven & analytically minded. Recent work in DefenceTech, Security, Transportation, Predictive Maintenance & AI/ML.

Multidisciplinary designer with engineering experience
My primary role is user-centered design. I research, analyse, conceptualise, ideate, sketch, wireframe, prototype, test and finesse hi-fidelity production artwork – but I've also been coding since learning Basic on a C-64, written interactive games using Lingo & Actionscript; managed LAMP stack web servers, written a SaaS DAM system in MEAN, and created web apps with Angular & React.
Recent work in DefenceTech, Transportation, Predictive Maintenance & AI/ML
Rebellion Defense is a startup providing SaaS AI/ML DefenceTech to the US, UK and Allied Forces. Collaborating closely with intelligence analysts & ML engineers, we deployed the company's first operational product, supporting intelligence at the edge of operations.
As a lead product designer, I specialize in translating complex ideas into intuitive, user-centric experiences. My recent work at Tunic Pay is helping revolutionize real-time payment security through thoughtful UX design; and at Advai, shaping the future of AI assurance with a platform for stress testing and enhancing AI models.
In 2019, Network Rail embarked on an ambitious transformation program called Intelligent Infrastructure. As a Senior Designer and UX Specialist, I was brought in to design the central application for this critical program.
Recommendations
“Working with Paul at Rebellion Defense is a true pleasure. As a designer he strikes a balance between being analytical and creative, consistently coming up with design solutions that are easy to use, solve user pain points, and innovate new ways to interact with technology. Paul is always ready to jump in and help out . He works well with everyone, mentoring junior designers, collaborating effectively with engineers, and presenting clearly to senior leaders. I highly recommend Paul as a design leader on any team.”
Laura Tchokouani – Head of Design at Rebellion Defense
“Paul has a unique blend of technical, creative and interpersonal skills. He thrived on complex interaction design challenges and was a self-starter when taking a passion project to redesign a bid management system from concept to implementation using ML and elastic search. He clearly has a growth mindset and demonstrated being supportive of others, e.g. mentoring and supporting tech forums. You want to work with him because whatever your role, together you are going to create a better solution.”
Claire Unwin – Service Design & Experience in Healthcare & Life Sciences at Atos
“Paul is an incredibly skilled designer with great creativity and most importantly the skill to take the creative work and align that with the business needs to create a functional and systematic design profile. Paul not only creates fantastic, high quality design but grounds it in extensive information architecture analysis to create an attractive, clean and user focused site. I can recommend Paul without reservation - he is one of the best in the business.”
Martin Eriksson – Product Partner at EQT Ventures, Co-Founder of Mind the Product
“Paul was a highly valued member of the web team at Audley Travel helping to significantly enhance both our desktop and mobile user experience. As well as demonstrating outstanding skills in UX design, Paul was also highly analytical using data to identify areas for improvement, as well as analysing changes to further refine templates for further testing. Paul was well liked by members of the web team as well as colleagues across the wider department and business.”
Jamie Waterhouse – Head of Digital at Audley Travel
